500 KM/H (310mph) IN AN ELECTRIC POWERED VENTURI

Bonneville, Utah, August 24th, 2010 : Fitted with an 800 HP electric motor and lithium Ion batteries, the VENTURI JAMAIS CONTENTE has set a new world record at an average of over 495 km/hr over 1 km in both directions*, officially recording a top speed of 515 km/hr.

Chalked up by American driver Roger Schroer, this record achieved in partnership with Ohio State University is part of the "VENTURI GLOBAL CHALLENGES". It joins the record set by Venturi in 2009 : the world speed record for a hydrogen-powered vehicle (FIA World Record, 487 km/hr, Sept. 2009).

THE FASTEST ELECTRIC VEHICLE IN THE WORLD

Venturi's President, Gildo Pallanca Pastor, says that this project is an important milestone in the history of automobiles : "From the Camille Jenatzi "Jamais Contente" to the "Venturi Jamais Contente", it has taken 111 years to go from 100 to 500 km/hr in an electric vehicle. It is thus with enormous satisfaction that Venturi has been able to demonstrate its technological progress in the field of electric propulsion by setting this historic record".

JAMAIS CONTENTE ? (NEVER SATISFIED?)

The adventure is, in fact, not over : Venturi will be back in Bonneville in 2011 and 2012.

The Venturi Jamais Contente, called in the United-States Venturi Buckeye Bullet, and its inspiration dating back to 1899 will be presented for the very first time at the next Paris Motor Show alongside other record-breaking vehicles participating in the Venturi Global Challenges and the manufacturer's latest offerings in the field of electric sports cars.

Paris Motor Show : from September 30th to October 17th, Centre des Expositions Paris, Porte de Versailles. Venturi will have 2 booths : Hall 1, booth 353, and Hall 5-1, booth 101.

For the last ten years VENTURI AUTOMOBILES has been conducting a sustained innovation policy in the field of electric vehicles. In mastering even the most advanced technological solutions within this sector, VENTURI’s expertise extends from urban vehicles to high-performance vehicles.

The "VENTURI GLOBAL CHALLENGES" are a series of technological, but also human, challenges through which Venturi intends to demonstrate its technological advances.
Mission 02, which took place from May 3rd to July 13th, 2010, was a fantastic human adventure. A Citroën Berlingo "Powered by Venturi" covered 13,400 km by road and without any assistance from Shanghai to Paris.
Mission 03, which consists of designing a clean vehicle capable of functioning in the extreme climate conditions of the Antarctic, is intended to meet the needs of the "Princess Elisabeth" station, the first station in the Antarctic to be entirely run on renewable energies.

500 KM/H EN VEHICULE ÉLECTRIQUE

Bonneville, Utah le 24 Aout 2010 : Munie d’un moteur électrique de 800 CV et de batteries lithium Ion, la VENTURI JAMAIS CONTENTE a établi un nouveau record mondial avec plus de 495 km/h de moyenne sur 1 km dans les 2 sens*, et enregistré officiellement une vitesse maximale de 515 km/h.

Pilotée par l’américain Roger Schroer, ce record réalisé en partenariat avec l’Ohio State University fait partie des « VENTURI GLOBAL CHALLENGES ». Il vient compléter le record établi par Venturi en 2009, à savoir le record mondial de vitesse pour une voiture à hydrogène (Record du Monde FIA, 487 km/h, Sept. 2009).

LA VOITURE ÉLECTRIQUE LA PLUS RAPIDE AU MONDE

Gildo Pallanca Pastor, Président de Venturi, indique que ce projet marque une étape importante dans l’histoire de l’automobile : « de la « Jamais Contente » de Camille Jenatzi à la « Venturi Jamais Contente », il aura fallu 111 ans pour passer de 100 à 500 km/h avec un véhicule électrique. C’est une grande satisfaction pour Venturi de pouvoir démontrer par la réalisation de cette étape historique, son avance technologique dans le domaine de la propulsion électrique. »

JAMAIS CONTENTE ?

L’aventure n’est pas achevée pour autant, ainsi Venturi reviendra à Bonneville en 2011 et 2012.

La Venturi Jamais Contente et son inspiratrice de 1899 seront présentées pour la première fois au prochain Mondial de l’Automobile aux cotés des autres véhicules de record des Venturi Global Challenges et des nouveautés de la marque dans le domaine de la voiture électrique de sport.

Un cocktail était organisé au Ritz pour accueillir les deux aventuriers où ils ont raconter aux invités leur périple.

After 55 legs starting from Shanghai, the two adventurers Géraldine Gabin and Xavier Chevrin will reach Paris on the evening of July 13th at the wheel of their Citroën Berlingo "Powered by Venturi".

Setting off on May 3rd from the World Exhibition in Shanghai, this human adventure from another era will come to its end on Place Vendôme following two-and-a-half months of driving on roads and tracks across China, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany and finally France.

A HUMAN ADVENTURE

This second mission in the "Venturi Global Challenges" has proved to be an amazing human adventure in our contemporary era : nearly 80 years after the fabulous, incompleted epic of André Citroën's Yellow Cruise along the Silk Road, Venturi has symbolically made the return trip using the most modern means of propulsion, from Shanghai to Paris, in an electric car.

Every night, Géraldine and Xavier have had to recharge their vehicle and sleep in the homes of local inhabitants. The two teachers have thus been able to enjoy a wealth of enriching encounters and share their experience with an electric vehicle which was, for the vast majority of these communities, a real discovery, sometimes seen as totally magic. As Géraldine Gabin describes : "Faces, smiles, outstretched hands… All these encounters which enabled us to continue and confront the world".

A TECHNOLOGICAL ADVENTURE

A first for a standard electric vehicle, a first for a non-assisted vehicle

On legs of 300 to over 400 km, the Citroën Berlingo "Powered by Venturi " crossed the Gobi desert and its sandstorms, climbed snow-capped mountain-passes over 3,000 metres high in the Tian Shan mountain range, confronted badly damaged roads in Kazakhstan, crossed the Russian steppes, and faced extreme weather conditions.

The trip has made it possible to conduct an extraordinary, accelerated endurance test. Accomplished without any assistance, it is a record in terms of both distance and endurance for a standard electric vehicle.

The mission's success enables Venturi to prove the robustness of its vehicles.

"This adventure will have demonstrated the reliability of the electric motor and will, I hope, help to prove that it is henceforth possible to travel under all conditions with this source of energy, available to virtually everyone. Yes, you can in fact go further with an electric motor than with a combustion engine! Technology, energy savings, ecology : a new way of travelling is born..." says Xavier Chevrin.

Venturi's president, Gildo Pallanca Pastor, commented on the successful termination of this challenging trip by saying : "It is a positive message with regard to the viability of the electric vehicle that Xavier and Géraldine have borne along throughout their entire adventure. They have shown that technological solutions developed by Venturi in the field of electric propulsion are reliable and suited to all kinds of conditions, even the most arduous".

UP-COMING MISSIONS IN THE "VENTURI GLOBAL CHALLENGES"

Mission 02 has come to an end : it has demonstrated the high level of reliability of Venturi's vehicles. Two other challenges, the most extreme speeds and the most extreme conditions, await Venturi in the scorching and corrosive desert of Bonneville in the USA, but also in the most hostile region on the planet : the Antarctic.

Mission 01

This program which began in September, 2009, and lasted 5 years, enabled the "Venturi Jamais Contente" to score a first record for speed in the category for electric vehicles fitted with fuel cells (487 km/hr - FIA world record).

The adventure continues, and on August 21st, 22nd and 23rd next, the salt lake of Bonneville in the USA will see the "Venturi Jamais Contente" attempt to beat its own record, equipped with a last-generation battery.

Mission 03

Proposed by HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, Mission 03 in the "Venturi Global Challenges" consists of producing a zero-emission vehicle capable of running under extreme weather conditions in the Antarctic. It is in the context of research conducted at the "Princess Elisabeth" Station - the first station in the Antarctic to be entirely powered by renewable energies - that the "Venturi Antarctica" will be experimented, the first electric vehicle to run on this continent, where it will be used to drive scientists to their various research sites. First presentation of the "Venturi Antarctica" at the "Mondial de l’Automobile" (Sept. 30th –Oct. 17th, 2010).

UNE AVENTURE HUMAINE

Cette deuxième mission des « Venturi Global Challenges » est une formidable aventure contemporaine : près de 80 ans après la fabuleuse épopée inachevée de la Croisière Jaune d’André Citroën sur la route de la soie, Venturi a symboliquement effectué le voyage retour en utilisant le mode de propulsion le plus moderne, de Shanghai à Paris, en véhicule électrique.

Géraldine et Xavier ont du recharger leur véhicule et dormir « chez l’habitant » chaque soir. Les deux professeurs ont ainsi pu faire une multitude de rencontres enrichissantes et partager leur expérience, voir un véhicule électrique constituant pour la grande majorité des peuplades traversées une véritable découverte, parfois vue comme véritablement magique. C’est ce qu’explique Géraldine Gabin : « Des visages, des sourires, des mains tendues... Toutes ces rencontres qui nous ont permis d'avancer et de saisir le monde ».

UNE AVENTURE TECHNOLOGIQUE

Une première pour un véhicule électrique de série, une première pour un véhicule sans assistance.
Au rythme d’étapes de 300 à plus de 400 km, le Citroën Berlingo « Powered by Venturi » a traversé le désert de Gobi et ses tempêtes de sable, franchi des cols enneigés de plus de 3 000 mètres d’altitude dans la chaine de montagne du Tian Shan, circulé sur les routes défoncées du Kazakhstan, traversé les steppes Russes, affronté des conditions climatiques extrêmes.

Ce périple a permis de réaliser un test d’endurance accéléré hors du commun. Réalisé sans aucune assistance, c’est un record de distance et d’endurance pour un véhicule électrique de série.

Le succès de la mission permet à Venturi de prouver la robustesse de ses véhicules.

« Cette aventure aura démontré la fiabilité du moteur électrique, et contribuera, j'espère, à prouver qu'il est désormais possible de voyager partout avec cette énergie, puisque pratiquement tout le monde en dispose. Oui, on peut aller plus loin avec un moteur électrique qu'avec un moteur thermique ! Technologie, économie, écologie : une nouvelle forme de voyage est née... » explique Xavier Chevrin.

Gildo Pallanca Pastor, Président de Venturi a commenté l’aboutissement de cette difficile traversée en indiquant : « C’est un message positif quant à la viabilité du véhicule électrique que Xavier et Géraldine ont porté tout au long de leur aventure. Ils ont démontré que les solutions technologiques développées par Venturi dans le domaine de la propulsion électrique sont fiables et adaptées à tous types de conditions, même les plus difficiles. »

LES PROCHAINES MISSIONS DES "VENTURI GLOBAL CHALLENGES"

La Mission 02 s'achève : elle a pu démontrer la grande fiabilité des véhicules électriques Venturi. Deux autres challenges, les vitesses les plus extrêmes et les conditions les plus extrêmes, attendent les réalisations de Venturi dans le désert corrosif et brulant de Bonneville aux Etats-Unis mais aussi dans la région la plus hostile de la planète : l'Antarctique.

Mission 01
Ce programme qui a débuté en septembre 2009 pour 5 ans, a permis à la « Venturi Jamais Contente » de décrocher un premier record du monde de vitesse dans la catégorie des véhicules électriques équipés d’une pile à combustible (487 km/h - record du monde FIA).

L’aventure continue et le lac salé de Bonneville aux Etats-Unis verra les 21, 22 et 23 Août prochain la « Venturi Jamais Contente » s’attaquer à son propre record, munie de batterie de toute dernière génération.

Mission 03
Proposée par S.A.S. le Prince Albert II de Monaco, la mission 03 des « Venturi Global Challenges » consiste en la réalisation d’un véhicule à zéro émission capable d’opérer dans les conditions climatiques extrêmes de l’Antarctique. C’est dans le cadre des recherches de la Station « Princess Elisabeth » - la 1ère station en Antarctique à être entièrement alimentée par des énergies renouvelables - que sera expérimentée la « Venturi Antarctica » premier véhicule électrique à opérer sur ce continent, où il servira aux déplacements des scientifiques sur leurs différents sites de recherches. Première présentation de la « Venturi Antarctica » au Mondial de l’Automobile (30 Sept – 17 Oct. 2010).
